What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy ?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a forward thinking therapy that guides a person to focus on their very own Solutions to what may be affecting them. It is a combination of psychotherapy that includes elements of SFBT (solution focused brief therapy) CBT (Cognitive Behavioural therapy) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), a little bit of brain talk and a guided relaxation technique known as hypnosis.
SFH is a modern, evidence-based therapy approach that combines talking therapy with gentle hypnosis to help you make positive, lasting changes. During sessions of SFH, we focus on taking small steps to get to a place where you feel more content in your life. By taking small steps, the brain is not overwhelmed and, therefore, won’t be in a state of stress.
When these elements are combined, they work together in processing all the information discussed during a session and embedded in a persons subconscious and they are able to get the very best out of themselves.
What happens in a session?
First we will discuss the things that you would like to do, where you would like to be and how you would like to react and respond to situations in your every day life. Then we will discuss why you have been feeling, reacting and responding to these things in the way that you have and help you to understand what you can do to move forward. Moving forward is the part of the session where you are able to visualize your ideal and preferred present and future.
We will then have a little discussion about the brain and the science behind our actions. This will further help you to understand. As the brain is structured for a person to work from the primitive/emotional mind when overwhelmed, we aim to guide you to work from the rational part of the brain more so that you are able to make better decisions from a calm and relaxed place.
You are then gently guided into hypnosis, whereby all the information discussed during the session is processed in a calming and relaxed way and the subjective words given are embedded and, over time, will help to create new neural pathways that are more helpful and beneficial for you in your everyday life.
You will be given a hypnosis track to listen to at home, and the steps that we focused on during the session will become a part of your everyday life between sessions.
